The Jena Band of Choctaw Indians invite you to the 16th Annual Powwow In the Pines, Friday & Saturday, October 9th & 10th at the Tribal Grounds at 551 Tuska Hina in Trout, just off US Hwy 84. Admission is $10 per day, $15 for the weekend, and children 6 and under get in FREE. Gates open at 3pm Friday, 10am Saturday. This year's Powwow promised to be one of the most memorable yet.

The Kisatchie Fly Fishers of central Louisiana will host a free casting clinic on Saturday, October 10, at Big Island Field in Alexandria City Park, just down from Bringhurst Field. Time is 9:00am to 12 noon. Whether newbie or looking to advance your casting skills, this one is for you! There will be a brief presentation for beginners on casting basics. Following that, there will be one-on-one or one-on-two instruction. This to help maximize your time casting and work on your specific needs of improvement. No cost and open to the public. Club rods will be available for use during the session.
